Joan Farrenkopf

Description

Joan Farrenkopf, CST, LMBT, RYT

Yoga is a way of life..and teaching tools for living life is yoga!

The I Ching is a tool to further personal and character development. Joan Farrenkopf teaches the Taoist tradition with the I Ching, so “people may live in peace” and to further her own avenue of expression.

Receiving a competitive fine art scholarship, Joan graduated with honors from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, and further studied at the London College of Printing, London, England. A deep interest in the transformative power of art has continued throughout her subsequent professional life.

Professionally, she has lived "many lives." She is a photographer and artist and has received awards for historic restorations in New York and North Carolina,  Young Careerist awards for professional achievement, and has enjoyed an athletic 15 years as a certified USSA Professional Ski Instructor and Alpine Ski Coach.

Beyond the external involvements of an early life, Joan embarked on a transformative journey studying healing art with Howard Bad Hand, a Lakota Spiritual teacher and master of the I Ching, the basis of Taoist philosophy. This study of more than 20 years took Joan beyond her role as student, to that of facilitating workshops for her teacher in the US and Germany. This study of the Tao brought Joan into fuller involvement of indigenous healing from her teachers and the Elders of the Rosebud Reservation, South Dakota.

Joan is a licensed Cranial Sacral therapist (CST) and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).  Her therapy and yoga are part of the Healing Arts Network at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Women’s Center in Wilmington, NC for the past 12 years. She teaches “Energy Therapeutics” workshops for therapists to further their practice in the healing arts.

Nationally, she is a teaching assistant and preceptor of advanced CST training for the Upledger Institute, West Palm, Florida, the teaching institute for CST. She researched dolphin assisted therapy and is a therapist-at-large for the Dolphin Research Institute, Grassy Key, Florida.

Joan is a joyous teacher.  Her unique approach - a lifelong study of art and healing - has become her profession - and her passion.
