Description

My passion is yoga therapy, working with people one-on-one supporting their healing journeys; a holistic approach to health and healing the body, mind and soul. This individualized approach honors each person as unique not just their DNA but also how they arrive at imbalance and ultimately dis-ease. Your yoga practice should be unique to who you are and what you need in order to support health and vitality.

In addition to working with students one-on-one in a therapeutic environment, I teach group classes of several styles of hatha yoga. My teaching style honors each student’s capabilities and limitations. I support, nurture and motivate my students with my sense of humor and compassionate nature. My classes offer options that are mindful of life stage, age, overall health and body type.

I live in Ottawa with my four-legged golden doodle “son” Mulligan. I am blessed with great friends, amazing teachers and inspiring students.

Credentials

I am a Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Scoliosis Yoga Trainer, Certified Yoga Therapist under the Krishnamacharya linage and the International Association of Yoga Therapist. I have been a student of yoga since 1992 and teaching yoga and offering workshops and retreats since 2003.

After a successful career in sales and marketing I left the corporate world in 2011 to focus full time on teaching yoga and yoga therapy.

I have experienced the benefits and positive results of yoga therapy myself. So I speak with experiential knowledge. I self-diagnosed my right thoracolumbar scoliosis many years ago. This was the cause of my back and hip pain. I had been practicing yoga for years with an asymmetrical spine and making my condition worse by creating more weak and tight spine and hip muscles.

This changed after becoming a certified scoliosis yoga trainer. I learned how to modify yoga postures and work with my breath to compensate for the imbalances created by the scoliosis and successfully minimized its effects. I realized that my scoliosis was a blessing and it was the catalyst that shifted my professional focus from a corporate realm to healing, well-being and yoga therapy.
