Joanne Quek
I offer Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Stretch, Core Flow yoga classes to students of all levels. I aim to give my students an uplifting class that is based on intelligent alignment, groundedness, enjoyment, reflection and meditation. I lead students through mindful a practice to safely achieve and maintain optimal health. I am convinced that every body is unique and so there is no perfect version of any pose. I strive to bring the pose to meet where the students are so that they can continue to practise what they learn throughout their everyday lives ('off the mat').

Joanne discovered yoga in her teens watching ‘yoga for health’ on TV. However work and life took priority and she embarked on a exhilirating career in Information Technology, working with many of the largest corporations in the world and government departments in Asia solving technical and business problems.
She moved to Hong Kong in 2008, and was able to practice yoga at Pure Yoga more regularly while maintaining a full life with family and full-time profession in IT. She then moved to Beijing, and stopped working in 2014. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to take the Yoga Teachers’ Training with Patrick Creelman and Rinat Perlman in Hong Kong. She is now a 200-hour certified Yoga Teacher and has begun teaching since Oct. 2015. Joanne believes updating her knowledge; thus has added the following to her credentials:
- 25-hours Shoulder Immersion with Tiffany Cruikshank
- 20-hours Anatomy Fundamentals with TIffany Cruikshank
- 30-hours The Art of Conscious Relaxation (Restorative YTT Level 1) with Adeline Tien
Yoga has given Joanne tremendous benefits and experiences in her life both physically and mentally. She realised that yoga brought her vital energy and made her feel healthy and peaceful, which she believes are the foundation for a happy and joyful life. She also learned to better understand her body through regular asana practice, pranayama and meditation. She is eager to pass on these benefits, share her experiences with others, help more people gain from this ancient knowledge.
Joanne aims to offer students a shifting and uplifting experience, with hatha/vinyasa style flow practice to create strength with intelligent alignment to safely achieve and maintain optimal health.
Joanne’s tip: ‘It doesn't matter when you start. All that matters is that you do.’
