Lisa Knowlton - Yoga Teacher
Yoga (from different styles) changed my life over two decades ago and has become a very beautiful part of who I am. I chose to become a teacher of hatha yoga because of the powerful benefits I've experienced, from avoiding anti-depressants to sustaining an overall healthy constitution. From teaching children's gymnastics on to teaching yoga to adults, I could see very clearly how utilizing the physical body assisted people in becoming well rounded in different aspects of life.
I've had many wonderful teachers over the years, but I will name Janice Gates (author of "Yogini") as my mentor/teacher who took me under her wing and gave me the most loving, nourishing guidance throughout my first ten years as a teacher. With her guidance, I have been able to offer the same loving and nourishing approach to each class and person I am given the opportunity to work with.
I value the benefits of creating alignment through a mind-body connection and implement basic meditation and mindfulness in each class.
I have a small studio in my home, a room with a private entrance and bathroom where classes are intimate, fun, and individualized. I also teach a short 'awakening' class to a group of ten men at a local cabinetry company before they start work in order to help prevent injuries.

I have 800 teacher training hours and numerous hours with well regarded teachers of Anusara yoga. I have recently integrated Yin Yoga into my classes, but still rely greatly on resources from Iyengar Yoga. I am currently reading "Full Catastrophe Living" by Jon Kabbat-Zinn, and I also enjoy the teachings of Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodrin, Nischala Devi Joy, and Byron Katie.
